Oh my goodness !!!
Inspired by the new posts, I thought I would try again, to access the page.......low and behold....... once more new challenges....so far so good..... maybe it will work this time !Seasons gretetings to all. I have been concerned to read about the weather conditions in and around Toronto, so it was good to read that you are warm and cosy Rosey, if surrounded by ice and snow ! The weather in southern Engalnd hasn't been much better, and I have been anxious for family travelling to visit each other over the holiday period.
It's Boxing Day here so the BIG day is over for another year. We shared it with good friends and had a lovely day. The weather started off well but the rain came later in the day. it's wet today so we won't be going far. Maybe a few friends will drop by later. This is the first year for a very long time, that we haven't been with family . DD#1 and family are in HK.and DD#2 and family are in Auckland. We usually go to Auckland but we went up last week instead, for the DGD"s 18th Bday. That was special.
All the best for the New Year. I hope 2014 won't be too challenging ! We will be starting it by trying to deal with the fallen trees. Back in Sept. a hurricane force wind came through Canterbury and blew thousands of trees down, a few hundred of them were ours. We then went away for two months, so didn't get onto it until we came home. It's been very hard to get the men and machines needed to tackle the job safely. We have a contractor lined up for "after Christmas" so we are hoping that will be sooner rather than later..
Now to press the "Publish" button and see what happens !
Marion.
Greetings from Mill Bay
Angel and all the other kitties who helped me with my wrapping are wishing all my quilting friends a very Merry Christmas and all the best in the New Year.
From Mary Jo in Idaho
From cold, snowy Idaho. It was 40 today, amazingly warm and sunny. Melted the newest snow to fall. Subdivisions are not plowed here, so the streets are slushy and a mess. Freezing tonight will make them icy tomorrow. Our main roads and freeways are clear and dry. Candlelight service tonight was special. All the old carols to sing plus a narrative of the history behind each. Very different and interesting. The older I get, the more I love to learn about history. DH has had a good week. Not great, but with it and steadier on his feet. Appreciate both. When he does better, so do I. Am looking forward to a healthier new year... hopefully because of learning to handle stress. Wishing each of you a wonderful holiday full of family, friends and love. And quilting! Blessings, MaryJoTuesday, December 24, 2013
Christmas Greetings and best wishes for 2014..... Maybe it's the magic of the season but I finally was able to sign in ! We are shivering in the cold in Northwestern Ontario...lots of snow..but thankfully none of the ice storm that Rosey had been in...glad to hear all is good there....Sara to snuggle with a baby any time is always good !
Hope to make it back here again ! Hope others do the same !

May I add my wishes for the coming year in good health and if not good health, better than this past year. I decided this year that this would be my last for mailed Christmas Greetings, saying, I'm either too old, too tired or too grouchy to do them again. Oddly enough, I thoroughly enjoyed doing them in the family room with the wood stove fire on and my Christmas tree, which we cut in November while it's still warm enough for me to get my fingers around the Christmas tree lights and on the tree, it's on our back porch, which can be seen from three rooms and we leave it up until April when the snow melts and we're ready to put out the garden furniture on the porch. Suet is tucked into the tree and so we all enjoy it, no needles falling inside and we have it for so much longer than if it was placed inside. And this monkey I couldn't resist. I bought it as a gift for myself. It makes me smile. I may be the only grandma with her own stuffed monkey...am I??
Rosey in a very icy Southern Ontario, Canada...we are encased in ice, 350,000 people have been without power for three or four days, emergency centres are being set up in the city (Toronto) and 90,000 are still without power. We were out for a day and a half. Bought battery powered camp lamps on Sunday and we were quite comfortable each with our own reading lamp.
