Getting ready for winter

That's what's keeping us going at the moment, that and splitting that huge woodpile of ours last week-end. Now we have to get the big piles of cut wood stacked before the end of October as we can experience our first snowfall by the beginning of November. Lots to do in a short period of time...outdoor furniture to wash down and store in the basement; the pots of flowers to empty and be put into the chicken house, now the woodshed and garden shed. The pool to be closed, the snowblower to be taken out and test run...that won't happen until the first snowfall and then, Murphy's Law requires it to break down. There is much noise from the garage when that happens. I make myself scarce when that happens. And, of course, the B&B is keeping me busy until the end of October and that's pretty much it for the season...only a few guests over wintertime and I can get to work in my studio again without interruption.

Miss AnnieBelle had her third bath since coming to live here early April. This time she didn't try to climb out of the tub until near the end and I stayed relatively dry. Only thing I didn't expect was sitting on the lid of the toilet and she came up beneath my knees and dried herself on my jeans. Had to stand in front of the woodstove to dry out. There's only so much doggy odour I can deal with, then they go off to the spa for a cut, bath and grooming.

Sara, hope your mom continues to hold her own. It's good when they feel good enough to complain about something. Grace, how are things at your household with your husband?

Done my bit, like Sara says, where's everyone...

Hi everybody

Hi- Is there anybody out there? It looks like our members have all run off to enjoy the nice weather.
I had some minor surgery on the lower left shin yesterday, basal cell skin cancer, now am wondering if I have to wait all day before I can take a shower. Guess I'll dunk my head in the sink to wash my hair, and shave the other leg by sitting on the edge of the tub.
I'm thinking this is skin cancer #10. Fortunately we have very good insurance, because this was the MOHS surgery. Have to take anti-biotics for 10 days.
Will be driving down to Lake Worth tomorrow AM. My 94 yr. old Mom is in hospital with lung problems and has developed a a fast heart beat. Yesterday I thought she wasn't going to live, but last night she was sitting up in bed and asking for her mystery book. She even complained about the bad coffee. So, she must be better!
Will check back in Mon. or Tues. when I get home.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadians!
We are having "Nor' Eastern" weather today and the past few days. Right this min. the sun is shining, but was whipping wind and rain about 30 min. ago. Stiff winds and rain for the next 24 hrs. according to the weather people. Rough seas at the ocean side!
I finished the spaceman quilt. Took it to guild meeting and felt good that lots of people took pictures. I even have the label on.
Going to have to pick up the room, as a GF and her DH art driving through on Wed. and will be spending the night. They are the ones who's oldest is now a doctor and will be going to Africa as a missionary doctor soon. He is married and has 5 kids. Will get to meet and greet all of them, but they are driving on to Atlanta for the rest of the day/night.
Sinuses pounding now, going to take the Excedrin and a hot shower.
