Flower festival.

There was a Flower Festival in Christchurch this week, the week of the earthquake anniversary. We have a beautiful garden and park near the center of the city, it suffered little damage at the time of the big quakes and has become the center of activity for Christchurch this past year. I wondered through the park and gardens yesterday, armed with my camera, so will be posting some photos which I hope you will enjoy.

The "His" and "Hers" Portaloos, were displayed by a garden group who lived in an area where they were used for most of last year... The hydrangears were almost over, but still looked beautiful I thought.. The colourful kiosk, just visible, housed the other floral displays.

There was also an exhibition in the Museum of the small, fabric hearts, which were sent from all around the world at the time of the quake. So many came in it that it was decided to exhibit them before distributing them. They were beautifully displayed, according to colour.

POOR ME

Okay girls, get out the cheese. Here comes the whine. Not only did I fracture my left wrist in a fall on the 8th but I just found out that I tore the rotator cuff muscle in my right shoulder as well. I'll see the shoulder surgeon on 3/05. I hope the surgery can be put off until I'm out of the cast on the left side on the 2oth if all goes well. In the meantime I'm begging rides from friends and I'm rapidly turning into a pain in the tush. Hmm that's the only part of me that doesn't hurt. Oh, by the way, did I tell you about the root canal last week?

I'm sitting here munching on chocolate chips and can't stop once started; just like a drunk.

Enjoy your limbs while they are functioning.

Your non quilting friend,
Jane

checking in . . .

. . . before y'all think I've fallen off the planet. yipes. I've been busy trying to learn my new cell phone. DH and I got the 1st generation of Motorola Droids almost two years ago. They were nice, I liked the features, but they had their bugs and annoyances. Now that Verizon has the iPhone, the date at which we could upgrade without penalty arrived, and we both got new iPhones. DH has been itching to get one, so that he could sync his iTunes music to it. He is a true Apple-fanatic. He has an iPod, iPad2, now the iPhone. What can I say...... I am a Bernina-fanatic and we just won't go there, as my toys cost more than his. LOL So far, I really really like this new iPhone and the "Apps". :-)

I finished a bench cushion cover that I made for our son & DIL. It really is more of a slip-cover. She bought the fabric and I provided the labor. I added a zipper so that they could remove it for washing, and easy removal if and when they want it re-covered with some different fabric. DDIL will probably want some throw pillows for their sofa, to jazz up the look in the condo they're renting for now, so home-dec sewing is the current focus and IMO pillows are fun. And easy. Yay!

Nothing else new here . . . the dog is looking at me, as her inner clock tells her that I should be preparing food a/k/a supper hour! She is very good at that, you know. ;-)
Hugs to everyone!

A very sad day in Christchurch
