Flower festival.
There was a Flower Festival in Christchurch this week, the week of the earthquake anniversary. We have a beautiful garden and park near the center of the city, it suffered little damage at the time of the big quakes and has become the center of activity for Christchurch this past year. I wondered through the park and gardens yesterday, armed with my camera, so will be posting some photos which I hope you will enjoy.
The "His" and "Hers" Portaloos, were displayed by a garden group who lived in an area where they were used for most of last year... The hydrangears were almost over, but still looked beautiful I thought.. The colourful kiosk, just visible, housed the other floral displays.
There was also an exhibition in the Museum of the small, fabric hearts, which were sent from all around the world at the time of the quake. So many came in it that it was decided to exhibit them before distributing them. They were beautifully displayed, according to colour.

thanks for sharing, Marion! Wonderful to see the NZ sense of humour and the blue hearts make a lovely display.
Marion, all that greenery and whimsical art is a sight for sore eyes at this time of year here in Canada. Yesterday was a stormy day though we've had few of them so far and spring will happen in another month or so...more, or so. We're still waiting for the storm that will be the last kick at the can and it usually happens when we least expect it in April. I love the hydrangeas and intend to plant more of those bushes this year on the property. Thank you for sharing this and in future sharings, as Fran says, it's wonderful to see New Zealanders sense of humour in the face of such a horrible tragedy.

LOVE the heart display! And loved the flowers all over as well. Thank you so much for sharing, Marion. As ever I continue to think of you Kiwis.

Great pictures. And, Like Rosey, nice to see greenery this time of year . We've had the winter that would be like OK. Fairly warm, almost no snow, in a word: Brown!
The whimsical art is wonderful-such good imagination. Love the groups of the hearts also. Like the other posters, things are brown here, lots of stormy weather, wind, misty, blustery rain, damp, yucky weather.

Nice to hear from you all. The BB is quiet isn't it ? Sounds as if the weather is patchy everywhere. Here we are having some sunny days at last. It's been a "grey" summer, most unlike our usual summer. The upside to that is that the grass is still green and not burnt off as it often is in February!
