Fifty shades of grey...?!?

Looking at your photo Rosey,  I thought of taking a shot  of my own head of hair  !  Certainly just as lacking in colour but a very different shade of grey... you were dark, I was fair, that could be the difference..
..
Feeling a bit unsettled today as we had a very sharp earthquake this afternoon.  It's five years this week since we had the one that took lives and flattened our, once lovely, city...  As far as I have heard ,this one hasn't caused any loss of life or much structural damage.  I hope that is the case.  It's depressing enough to see what is still waiting to be rebuilt , without more buildings coming down..

Not a lot to report from this corner of the world.  The weather eventually settled into summer after a long and unsettled spring.   We have had some very hot days, but the countryside has remained remarkably green, due to the occasional very heavy rainfall.

DH and I have decided to go over to the UK .this (northern)summer.  My sister and her husband look a lot older in recent photos , so we thought we should make the effort while they are reasonably fit and well.  We have booked a cottage in the Cotswolds for a week in July. The Cotswolds are fairly central and very beautiful.  We plan to holiday there with them, which should be pleasant and restful for both couples.  We have other aging relatives in the  area and some good friends ,so it should be a good week.   Daughter #1 and her family will be in Scotland in July, so we will travel up there and have some time with them too.

Daughter #2 is facing big changes in her life this year, her eldest (20) has gone flatting for the first time (she has one more year to do at Uni.) the second child (18) is coming down to the South Island this week ,for his tertiary study, leaving her with the third child (16) at home , as an only child... He is quite looking forward to that and has already moved into his sister's(bigger and better)bedroom !!

The BB is very quiet , I wonder how much longer we will have access to it ?   Thanks for sparking us into life again Rosey, its always good to hear your news.

Take care.
Marion.

Congratulations on your 52 years Marion. Was it Valentine's Day or am I confusing the time zones? I envy your trip to England. I have visited twice and enjoyed Manchester and the Lake District. DD#1 did graduate studies in 1995 and DH and I went in 1998 to visit the family who hosted her through Rotary International Scholarships. Both our families come from the British Isles - Scots-Irish for me and Welsh/English on DH side. DD#1 said during her studies there she felt so "at home" among the peoples. I found the country side enchanting. Fifty shades of gray? - I feel I may have many of those shades looking overall more like Rosey's. Thanks for keeping up with the posting. It's like getting letters from pen pals.

Pen pals ...gosh, that revives memories for me ! When I was a child in England, I had a pen pall in America , another in Australia and a third in Holland... How I loved receiving mail from them ! I suppose this is an updated version of that, it's just a shame so few use it.

Our anniversary (15th) was a happy day. Morning tea with an ancient Aunt of the DH, lunch with some friends, home for some "recovery time" then more friends out in the evening .

Another hot day today, I don't get much done when it gets over 30degs !
