Any advance on...

We live near a small river called the river Eyre, ( pronounced Air..). The area where our aviator friends live , is called  Eyreton.  The people on the subdivision , which they developed ,have come up with some interesting names for their properties... Eyrefield, Eyreguitar, Eyreshire etc... A new one , noticed this morning , I think is the best of all... Dairyeyre. !

Still getting very hot days here,a real worry about fires , especially as we usually have a strong wind with the heat..  Enjoyed a whirlwind visit from DD#1 last week, she is back in Scotland now (in the snow !) Lovely to see the photo of your dog Rosey, what a happy time she seems to be having in the snow. !

Hi Marion, Yes - love that name - very clever! Quite a coincidence actually,as we live on the Eyre Peninsula (named after a 19th Century explorer) and there are several sites here (a road, a school, etc) named after him. The latest is a development here too - Ocean Eyre. Tame. LOL

uuuuum, wonder if the same explorer came here Fran ? Nice to hear from you..
Rosey, you are very kind to comment on the posts...! Without your comments it would be easy to believe that we were just talking to ourselves at times..!

Just checked, Marion, and it's the self-same person. Edward John Eyre - Lt Gov of New Munster. So there you go!

Marion, the new Chat Board forum is not as exciting as the former one and my feeling for the reason of this is two-fold:
1. The former chat board was at a time when the internet and access to other quilters via this type of free-posting forum was newer, novel and thus, more exciting
2. The old forum had many posting to it, some drama, some excitement and also, the odd dog breeder coming on who used to post messages whereby she would take information and try to stir up trouble in the henhouse. She even tried with this new set-up with one of her flunkies and I notified Eric, he removed her from the board immediately. That's the good thing about this board if you can ever reach Eric.

So this forum is not as exciting, the novelty has worn off, no gossip going on, just pleasant exchanges and pictures...that's the great part.

I hope the Chat Board continues. I'm not sure what's in it for Eric and Sue because it costs money to keep a domain and website going.

Fran....you are amazing! ...Such a thirst for knowledge ! Busy as you are, you took the time to check. I would have gone to my grave wondering....!

Rosey , I suppose you are right. Other members have probably gone onto Face Book or Twitter by now. They are not for me, altogether too public !
