Penny Albain from Florida
I know that some of you will remember Penny Albain (formerly from Michigan). She was one of the earliest members of this Board. Penny lost her battle with cancer this past Tuesday. I'm going to try to paste in her obituary here.PENNY LEE
ALBAIN, 65
LAKELAND - Penny Lee Albain, 65, of Lakeland FL, formerly of Deerfield MI, lost her
battle with cancer on September 24, 2013 at Good Shepherd Hospice of
Auburndale, FL.
She was born to the late Orville Fick and Rose (Barta) Fick on November 9, 1947 and grew up in Deerfield, MI, where she made her family with Larry Albain, whom she married on June 27, 1974. They later retired to Florida in 2004. She worked for the Deerfield Farmer's
Telephone Company, then became a stay at home mom for her two daughters. Penny's hobbies included an active love for quilting and support for breast cancer awareness. Penny received many awards and acknowledgements for her innovative and artistic designs, including second place in a national quilt show. She also enjoyed giving back by providing quilts for
numerous hospitals including babies in the neonatal unit and cancer
centers.
Penny was the loving wife of Larry Albain, and is survived by her mother, Rose Fick of Deerfield, MI, and daughters, Shannon (Steve) Andrix of Blissfield, MI and Nicole (Jason) Fritz of Lambertville, MI. She is also lovingly survived by her granddaughters Jenna and Cara Andrix and
Savannah Fritz. Penny was also a lifelong dog lover and will be missed by Ivy, the rescue dog. She will be very missed by the many friends she has made in her life and they will all remember her as the fun-loving,
outgoing, sarcastic Sweet Caroline.
A celebration of life is planned for Sunday, September 29, 2013, at the
Schalamar Creek Ballroom at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, the family is
requesting donations be made to Lakeland Regional Cancer Center in
Lakeland, FL or Good Shepherd Hospice of Auburndale.

Sorry this is so disjointed. The powers that be won't allow editing once the words are copied in.

Kathi - Thank you for sharing the obit. How sad. I remember Penny and am sorry to learn that she has passed away.
No need to apologize for the post layout. I wonder how it got the breaks in the lines that look like paragraphs. Weird, since comments honor paragraphs created by the commenter, but posts do not. This blogger format is not friendly.
I also remember Penny from many moons ago. So sad to hear of her passing. swquilts, Susan in fresno
