Recipe for dog biscuits

With the recent dog/cat food scare, my niece would like to try making the dog biscuits. I thought I had the recipe but, of course, now can't find it. Is it Jean or Rosey with the recipe? Thanks! Sue in Iowa

Hello, Sue!
It is both Rosey and myself -- I gave her the recipe a few years ago and she uses the biscuits to raise money for Aussie Rescue. I make about 5 pounds of them a week and sell them locally -- they are very popular! I will see if I can find the recipe written out somewhere and will get back here with it... Found it!

ADDICTIVE DOG BISCUITS

2 cups chicken or beef broth ***
I Tablespoon yeast
1 egg
1 Teaspoon garlic powder or 1 or 2 cloves garlic, crushed
3 Tablespoons milk powder
2 to 3 Tablespoons Parmesan cheese (optional)
1/2 cup corn meal
1 cup medium bulgur (cracked wheat)
½ cup rye flour
1 cup wholewheat flour
1 1/2 to 2 cups unbleached flour

Warm broth slightly, sprinkle on yeast, let stand 5 minutes. In large bowl of mixer equipped with dough hooks, mix all dry ingredients. Add liquids and knead , adding small quantities of liquid or flour as needed, until a firm but still workable dough is formed.

On a floured surface roll out dough to about ¼ inch thick. Cut in shapes or simple rectangles or squares, reworking the scraps as needed. Place on ungreased cookie sheets, close together. (This should fit on two large cookie sheets.
Bake at 320*F for 1 hour, rotating sheets once. Turn off oven and leave overnight with oven door closed. Biscuits will be very lightly browned and very hard and dry.

*** I simmer chicken livers in water and blend them, using that instead of the broth
