Sara - take a look at the McCall's Quilting magazine. I have subscribed for the past few years, and find it refreshing from the standard Quilters Newsletter mag and the ASG mag.
I think it is the fabric ads, and overall appearance of the magazine that I enjoy. Not very expensive, either.
Sara, I love McCall's Quilting mag and have had it for many years. It is current but has lots of traditional, too.
Doris is more up on quilt magazines than I, Sara, but I still have a great fondness for Quilters Newsletter. I haven't seen a copy for several years and I know that the Lehman's are no longer involved in ownershhip, Bonnie Leman died not long ago, as well. I've been around quilting for longer than I care to admit but was there in the early seventies teaching quilting for nine years when the quilt boom happened. Names such as Quilter's Newsletter, Jean Ray Laury, whose work I have admired always; Virginia Avery, who died not long ago and was a spectacularly interesting and talented woman; Beth Gutcheon and her then husband, Jeff, who died last June in NYCity...he was an trained architect, talented artist and musician, a polymath, Michael James, whose work is and was, spectacular...those were my times...I went on to Art College and lost momentum in the quilt world so I don't know what is around. I hope others put their two cents in here.

I love McCalls Quilting mag; just the right amount of traditional and new ideas are in it. Have subscribed for several years and am never disappointed.
Just completed the binding on a flannel quilt headed for Alaska tomorrow. It is 90" square, good for snuggling while watching tv, I'd guess. For both to snuggle beneath... My son and daughter in law are teaching in a small village on the Bering Sea.
We made a 6 hour trip north for Thanksgiving. Good roads all the way. 17 for dinner, well engineered. Each brings the same things every year and the host does the turkey, potatoes and gravy. DH only left the recliner for dinner. It was a hard trip for him.
Which makes me wonder if we should attempt the trip south next month. Maybe he could fly and I can drive.... But, then will have to find someone to stay with him while I'm on the road and get him to wheelchair service at the airport.
Merry Christmas!
MaryJo
Should have noted above, from Mary Jo...not me,
Rosey
