solved my problem
OK, I got on the Mayo clinic web site about swelling due to arthritis. Wraped my fingers in ice for 20 min. Today I used a "salon pass" patch on each finger to reduce the pain. Seemed to work.Fingers much better today.

Sara - I've never heard of Salonpas, so did a Google on it. Looks like a good product. A couple days later, there was a TV commercial for the same thing. I will keep that in mind for the next time I need something like that. I have to avoid capsaicin because it burns my skin (because it is made from red hot chili peppers, which I can NOT eat. at all.), but the aspirin version should work great.
