Lavinia, need to contact you

Lavinia-I think at one time you said your were in Phoenix, AZ, but you might have said Flagstaff.
IF we drive out from Jacksonville, Fla. we would go I-10 to Miss. then north to Memphis, Tenn, then out through OK.  We wouldn't be as far south as Phoenix, but would pass through Flagstaff.
Of course now DH is saying "We ARE taking the dogs".  I might just fly out and meet him.  The stress would not be any good.
So, my E mail address is sashauer at comcast dot net.  I want to see the Grand Canyon, but don't want  a divorce over it!

Sara...we travel all the time with our dogs, and I think you might mention to your DH that going across the southern tier of states at the end of summer/beginning of fall would mean that you can't leave the dogs in the car alone due to the heat factor. One of you would need to be there, either with the windows all the way down or the car running and the air conditioning on. That would mean no stopping for lunch unless it is in the car, only one person at a time going into the restrooms, more potty stops, finding pet-friendly motels, etc., etc. Even those pet-friendly motels are NOT friendly if you leave the dogs alone in the room.

We travel mostly in the northern tier, but even in Idaho it gets too warm during the summer and early fall to leave the guys in the car. We always say that if it's going to be over 70* and we will have to be out of the car at the same time, the dogs stay home. We are fortunate that we tow a travel trailer, so we do have a place where we can leave them in air conditioned comfort when we are in camp.

Just a thought. See.....I have your best interests at heart.

azkwltr AT cox DOT net. We live in Peoria, which is 20 miles north of downtown Phoenix, actually. Don't have an extra bedroom or you'd be welcome. It was 107 today. Cooler up in Flagstaff. They've been getting all the rain this season. Hard to travel with pets; I drove the Penske truck and we had the dog with us, but it was the middle of May. It's been hot all the way up to Northern California; I had to cancel my 4th of July trip.

Thanks ladies. I agree that it would not be good for them, me, or the marriage. Our dear friends who dog sit for a weekend once in awhile have said they would keep the girls for 2-3 weeks for us. There are so many other things going on, that this is just one of many stressors. I thought of flying to Alburq. N.M. and joining him and dogs after 4 days of the drive, only $200. one way. He could pick me up and we could go on to Grand Canyon. But, good grief, my mind is spinning. I'll post again later in week. August is here, it's HOT and really humid here, so he is busy.
