checking in . . .

I played golf today; first time in  a month.  High was 58F and I played a little better than average, so I am quite pleased.

The kitchen renovation is almost over.   Five weeks ago Wednesday, it began when the cabinets were taken out.  (I was packing up the kitchen for the two weeks before that)  We should be finished by this coming Wednesday (day before U.S.A. Thanksgiving).  That is a week earlier than we thought, but the counter-tops are ready, so they will be installed on Monday.  Hooray!   Snoopy dance!  Once it is all finished, I'll take pics and post.   I am ready for it to be over.  I mostly miss the dishwasher.   Washing dishes in a 14" wide  laundry room sink is better than in the powder room sink, so I have not complained.  Dish drying rack has sat on top of the dryer.   I will simply be very grateful to have a normal kitchen sink again and a dishwasher.    :-)

We re-did our kitchen lighting also, and I love, love, love the new lighting.     I had LED recessed lights put in the ceiling.   Halogen is very popular here and it puts out a beautiful light, but they also put out heat.  My kitchen gets hot enough, as it is, so that was a no-go for me.    These LEDs don't make the kitchen hot at all.  It's amazing.   DH wanted  LED rope lighting above the cabinets, for  indirect lighting, and we are both very pleased with that, too.

I think our Thanksgiving has come early, this year, and I cannot believe Christmas is almost upon us, either.   Ack.   Honestly, I think the older I get, the faster time flies.   We will go to my sister's house for Thanksgiving dinner.  She hosts it every year, and we all bring a dish or two.   The food is always wonderful and it's so nice to see everyone.

Kitchen sounds wonderful! I know you will enjoy it all when finished. 54 here at 4 a.m. then upper 70s, low 80s. Snowbirds arriving daily and all getting their golf fix (the 17th and 18th are across the street from our back patio). Also arriving are large numbers of ducks who love the ponds on the golf course. I have lost your email address along with a ton of others; give me a shout at azkwltr AT cox dot net. Sure do miss Tennessee (but not the weather there LOL) Lavinia/AZ

Doris, it sounds funny to me to hear you and Lavinia talking about golf, snow birds and ducks on ponds when I'm looking out at a frost-covered field behind our home with a haze of mist overlaying it, the sun a cool lemon yellow, not butter yellow at this time of year, trying to break through the overcast gunmetal grey sky.
