Rosey's Right

Rosey you were right about time spent on Facebook. With 70 members now I am spending much more time on WWQP. I am going to say it is because of all the catching up with our recent reconnecting. It has been wonderful and I just don't want to miss a thing. I don't want to get behind either. LOL

Rosey,
I agree with everything you have said and find myself trying to find a good balance in my life. I have not yet figured out the "hook" that catches us all to some degree or another. I want to spend time on my quilts as that is one of the great pleasures in my life. At the same time I think the connection with others, even if it is in a public electronic forum, is also important. As I age and getting around physically becomes more difficult I have the thought that this connection will become more important to me. It is not unlike a pen pal of old and the feed back is faster. Just one more thing to figure out in life.

Rosey,
Yes, I've done all those things you mention and I have yet to reach 70. The pie - I've been thinking of how I'll soon make my first rhubarb pie of the season and enjoy two pieces because I just can't stop with one. At least I don't often make pie. I'm just buying pans one at a time as I burn them though I carry a timer with me if I start one and leave the room even for a little bit because it's never a little bit. (A lot of "squirrel" type distractions.)

I absolutely continue to refuse to even correspond with my bank online. You can't convince me that any of them are hacker proof. It always amazes me the effort these criminals put in to take from innocent others rather than using their skills to make money in a positive manner. I most certainly am not interested in the time and effort to clear ones name and records once they have been compromised.

I'm guessing this board will become the equivalent of a ghost town but I will continue to check back to see what you have been up to.

Your points are well made about the difference between blogs and Facebook. They are quite intrusive in the manipulation of what they "think" you want to see on one's own "personal" page. They have entered a picture of a guy "giving the bird" as a potential friend to me with no connections whatsoever to myself or any of the two dozen friends (family) I have. They even admitted to experimental manipulation of people's pages a few years ago by Facebook's choices of "what they wanted you to see" that others were posting. They were choosing to give negative or positive images daily to certain selected people. I imagine I will find them intrusive in other ways within the group that has been set up but I am enjoying the chatter of the ladies there.

I think it is fine that you post as often as you have something to say. Maybe it is being read by others who have no way to reply. I know I was in that position for a while. There was also a time when I could not comment on others' posts. That is why I tried to get others to post each time since I could not read from the comments section. (Now here you and I are commenting back and forth in that very section. Oh well, it works right now.)

Yes we are at the whim of those who design and initiate and change the various formats. It is nice that some have found a way to gather our group together in a format they are comfortable.

Well, apparently I've endangered those who have posted here, so I'd better remove my posting.
