what I've been up to lately

The last few days with the grands, and all have flown by.
--By the way, WHERE is JANE? Hopefully not ill, but on vacation somewhere.
The gang was about 3 hrs. late arriving on last Thurs. night, so not much visiting there. On Friday DH took a day off and took the kids out to a go-cart rink. On the way out of the garage, one kid left the kitchen door open, and dog ran out. So, another grand jumped out of the truck to run after her, leaving the truck door open. DH didn't realize the door was open and backed up, hitting the open door on the frame of the overhead garage door. --OK, later in the day, he and SIL got hammers out and straightened the frame, so the overhead door would close. He thinks one of his AC people, who works on cars on the side, can fix the door for only about $200.
After that a brunch on Sat. morning with some girls, lots of fun. Church on Sunday -lots of people saying hello. Father's day dinner on Sun. night, his parents, sister, kids, etc. Nice dinner, lots of good food and laughing.
It has been hellish hot here all the past week, 98, 101, lots of smoke from the fires. There was a thunderstorm yesterday, so today was a bit cooler, and no smoke. A relief.
DD and family went to Universal Studios in Orlando last night. They were to go to Universal all day. They will fly out tomorrow at 6:30AM.
Today I mostly did errands and worked a bit on the space men quilt. Fusible applique.
Laundry,laundry, etc.
Lots of my GFs are out of town, going away for summer vacations.
HEATHER-are you in Canada? I was wondering about the health care situation you mentioned.
OK, all for a Friday night.

Hi Sara....yes I live in Canada...just about 3hours north of Duluth MN just over the CAN/USA border.....in this country we have basic health care covered by the various levels of government...but in this region we have one central hospital that has various clinics that operate out of it...including the fracture clinic where anyone suffering with broken bones or sprains go to see a specialist....all our specialists operate out of this....occassionally you will be able to get into their private clinic if you have one but 99% of referals come thru the fracture clinic from your family doctors or the emerergency rooms of the regional hospitals.....if Janices' shoulder and arm were much worse and required immediate surgery she would have been seen to and kept in the hospital much longer....we went thru this last year when the MIL fell and fractured her shoulder as well....but to be able to start physiotherapy she has to be seen by the fracture clinic...and you don't get your choice of which doctor....they assign the appt's.....and if you have an appt at a certain hour you can be sure to be there for at least 2 to 5 hours since calls to the emergency room come in and are priority.....which makes the sitting area basically in the hospital hallway overflowing at the best of times....good thing there is a coffee shop right there...how convenient...it just gets so frustrating to see someone suffer and not know if what they are doing at home is correct or actually hurting themselves worse......we could travel south of the border and probably get more immediate care but the kids definetely don't have the $ right now to do that and won't take any assistance from either of the families....

Glad you had a good visit with the grandsons despite the vehicle and door mishaps.....thankfully no puppy or child was hurt.....!Do they live in area that isn't affected by the flooding we see on the news?
