Tropical storms, this and that

Yes, Rosey, Tropical storms can do a lot of damage. We had more coastal damage from the Nor'easter sitting and spinning off the coast. At least tropical storms and hurricans tend to hit, then run away. The beach area from here to Ft. Lauderdale were damaged some. A few houses in danger, but so far as I know no one in the USA was hurt or killed.
We are going to visit my GF at her beach house in Melborne this Thursday - Sunday. This is the GF who's husband died of skin cancer about 2 and 1/2 years ago. Their place is a duplex, with her sister and BIL living full time next door. About 15 years ago they lost about 15 to 18 feet of beach front due to a nor'easter. After the Bonnie,Charlie,Francis, Jean quad of hurricanes of 2005 (or was it 2004?) there isn't much left of the beach front there.
We plan to sleep at her place and kayak and boat with some other friends who live on the Sabastian river about a 20 min. drive. There are supposed to be lots of manatees in the river there.

The weather the last 3 days has been perfect! Blue skies, cool air. About a high of 65 and a low of 50. I have the windows open for the first time in years. Too bad there is road work being done less than 1/2 block from the house. This is the perfect time to sit outside and dream of quilty projects, etc.

I've spent a frustrating several hours trying to sew together some drapery pannels we bought for the condo. I thought it would be so easy to zig-zag or some type of stitch to make them one long drape. Wrong! Things stretch, wiggle, and otherwise don't cooperate. I'm thinking now of going to some steam-a-team. Will let you know.

Doris, I talked to the travel agent this morning. We can take Jet Blue direct to JFK in N.Y. and then go Air Lingus direct to Shannon, Ireland. I have been thinking of next Sept. 7th - 21st. Trying to get some friends to go with us for 2 weeks in Ireland instead of their going 1 week to Italy. She will let me know tomorrow. They have 4 kids, 2 of whom are young adults and just moved back home. We are calling it the elastic nest.
The youngest is a 16 yr. old boy who is very actively involved in baseball and golf. She makes me tired just talking about all the things they are doing.
That's all the news fit to print now. Thinking about getting another dog-a free one, mixed kind of a mut. DH saw it last night, and said I would love it, but am making myself wait until Monday to see the little ankle biter, so I won't fall in love with her now, before we leave town for 4 days.
