What's up??? (courtesy of Jane's post)
JANE IN NC - well, that scientific magazine is too funny if you ask me. Viagra, eh? I can just see women lining up to ask for Viagra, for jet lag of course, and I wonder if their health insurance will deny the claim simply because they're not men? LOLSince Viagra is known to make things perkier, perhaps it could help ladies with things that were once perky but have since lost the battle with gravity and headed south.....
CROCKPOTS - I was given a crock pot some thirty years ago but rarely used it since it was humongous and our family is small. I gave it away eons ago. Now I'm trying to remember if that crockpot from the 1970s had a glass lid or plastic lid. The newer ones are tempered glass, but I bought a smallish one (3 or 4 qt) at WallyWorld a year or two ago and it has a plastic lid. Does anyone remember, or have a really old one, who can help my memory and tell me what kind of lid yours has?
WELP - I'm going to try my hand at Irish Stew this weekend, accompanied by Irish Soda Bread. I'll flog this onto my sister and her husband. LOL I enjoyed partaking of these dishes in the ancestral country and found some good recipes. Wish me luck! I'm not a cook . . . I'd much rather be sewing. ;-)
Hugs to everyone,

Glass - definitely and it is very heavy! I still have mine which I received for a wedding gift in 1969. I never really did use it except for serving hot things at pot luck events. It was idea for transporting and simply plug it in to keep food hot. You will enjoy this --- it is avacado green! Guess both the glass top and the color date me.
I have a newer one which I also received as a gift and it is huge and I never use mine either. A person would need at least 4 big eating children to make good use of it.
Memories are wonderful!!
Phyllis in Minnesota who got to attend the big Minnesota Quilt Show yesterday. A lot of "artsy" type quilts, a lot of very busy quilts that took years to make, basically no handquilting but a wonderful event which leads to overstimulation and then I can't remember the good ideas that I wanted to use.
Ditto on the lid. When mine, also from 1969, gave out recently I traded the plastic lid out for the old glass one. Somehow, I just could not see that plastic standing up to wear and tear. We have used ours a lot for roasts. DH puts one in frozen early in the morning before work and I can quilt all day and he can say he did dinner. Works for me. LOL.
I have a round Rival crockpot with a plastic lid; bought it at a flea market in the late 90s. The lid discolored but it's still around. Perhaps WW cleaned out a warehouse. I got a big pot last fall and use it to make vegetable soup--freeze portions so that I can have a quick, tasty lunch or dinner. Cooking for one isn't much fun. Betty
